The Game Menu |
 Use
the Game Menu to load and save your Strike-A-Light games. You can also access many of the special
features found in Strike-A-Light such as skin options, player statistics and even Big
Brother.
New...This will bring up the 'New Game' window.
Click on the "New Game" button to start a new game. The current game if not completed, will be lost. Click on the "Options..." button to change the game options such board size, number of players and Play-by-Email. Click on the "Statistics" button to view player statistics. Click on the "Exit" button to Exit Strike-A-Light. The Keyboard shortcut for the New command is Ctrl-N. Open...This will bring up the 'Open Strike-A-Light Game' window. Use this option to load and continue playing a previously saved Strike-A-Light game. The Keyboard shortcut for the Open command is Ctrl-O. SaveThis will save the current Strike-A-Light game in progress. If the current game has not been previously saved, then the 'Save Strike-A-Light Game' window will appear (see Save As...). The Keyboard shortcut for the Save command is Ctrl-S. Save as...This will bring up the 'Save Strike-A-Light Game' window. Use this option to save the current Strike-A-Light game for continued play later. The complete Undo history is also saved with the game. A saved Strike-A-Light game can be retrieved via the Game -> Open... menu option. Note that the current game in progress is automatically saved when you Exit Strike-A-Light. Skin...This will bring up the 'Skin Options...' window. This window will allow you to customise the appearance of Strike-A-Light. See Skinning Strike-A-Light for more information. SoundSelect this menu option to turn sound on or off. A tick mark will appear in the menu if sound is turned on. Show Big BrotherSelect this menu option to enable or disable the 'Big Brother' display . The Big Brother display will appear when the computer needs more than a second to calculate its next move. This display shows the number of games evaluated and the ratio of wins, draws and losses. The right hand side of the display shows a snapshot of the game being evaluated. Options...This will bring up the 'Start New Game Options' window. Use this window to change the game options such board size, number of players and Play-by-Email. Statistics...This will bring up the 'Player Statistics' window. This window will display game statistics for all players. See Player Statistics for more information. ExitThis will exit Strike-A-Light. The current game in progress will be automatically saved. |
